British Film Commission trip for US feature film executives showcases the UK’s world-class VFX and Post industry

With the UK’s visual effects and post industry in the spotlight both due to recent awards successes and enhancements to the UK Film Tax Relief, the British Film Commission (BFC) seized the opportunity last week to offer a group of senior US feature executives an inside look at why this sector is so successful.

During their five day stay, the execs were given tours of Soho’s Oscar-winning facilities Framestore, Double Negative, Moving Picture Company and Warner Bros. De Lane Lea as well as demos from leading picture and sound post facilities and boutique VFX houses.

The week started with an opportunity to meet some of the UK’s top freelance VFX Supervisors, followed by a visit to the iconic Abbey Road Studios for a film soundtrack recording featuring some of the UK’s outstanding musical talent. Post facilities at Twickenham and Pinewood Studios also featured on the trip, providing an opportunity too for the executives to spend time with key sound talent and Post Production Supervisors.

And crucially, as well as seeing the work and meeting the companies and individuals behind it, the executives were provided with guidance on how the newly enhanced Film Tax Relief will make the UK’s VFX and post sector even more accessible and attractive.

The executives left the UK with an enhanced knowledge of what the UK VFX and post industry has to offer and with plans to return soon with their projects.
