Next Star Wars film to shoot in the UK

Lucasfilm has confirmed the new Star Wars film will be produced in the UK. JJ Abrams (Star Trek Into Darkness) will direct the film which is due to shoot in 2014 for release in 2015.
“We’ve devoted serious time and attention to revisiting the origins of Star Wars as inspiration for our process on the new movie” said Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, “and I’m thrilled that returning to the UK for production and utilising the incredible talent there can be a part of that.”
The British Film Commission (BFC) welcomed the news. Chief Executive Adrian Wootton commented that the “BFC alongside government and our industry colleagues have worked hard to make sure this project came to the UK.” He continued to say the announcement was an endorsement of the UK’s industry: “it is an indication of how well regarded our talent and facilities are across the globe.”
BFC Chair Iain Smith added, “We are delighted to welcome Star Wars back to the UK. I would like to thank the government for their ongoing support of the film and television industries, which in return delivers jobs for the UK and boosts the economy.
